On 19 September 2025, the University of Florence will host the international seminar “Pilgrimage Cultures in East and West” in the Aula Magna of the Department of FORLILPSI (Via Laura 48, Florence).
The seminar offers a comparative perspective on pilgrimage cultures, exploring the dialogue between Japan, Mongolia, and the West through anthropological, religious, and artistic lenses.
Starting from the Kumano Project of the University of Tokyo – which investigates the sacred routes of the Kii Peninsula and their cultural significance – the event invites participants to reflect on pilgrimage as a path of spiritual quest and intercultural exchange.
